A Collection for Baby Girl's Room
Baby Girl's room has been such a journey for me. I've had expectations that were just SO HIGH that I could never move forward with any of my plans. I'd get started, do some work, get confused, get discouraged, start over... In her short little life her room has changed so many times, it's kind of embarrassing. So far she's had two rooms, three beds (plus a crib), two china hutches, two dressers, two nightstands, and we haven't even discussed paint colors. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
Most recently, just before Christmas, I got a wild hair and decided to finally paint the bed white (and the inside of the closet). I've been waiting forever to do it, and Christmas was not the best time, but I just did it anyway. Baby Girl helped. We had fun. And as much as I do actually love pine, I love the white so much more for her room.
So then, after painting the bed over Christmas (it's still needing to be poly-ed, but at least it's white now), I thought it might be nice to just sort of throw what I have on the bed and see how it looks.
And you know what? It doesn't look half bad!
No, it isn't amazingly clever. No, it isn't a princess fairytale. It's just a regular twin bed with a bunch of quilts and pillows that I made for her. But it's cheerful and it's a little bit vintage and a little bit cottage and I love it. I finally feel confident that this room is going to be a happy place and I can just enjoy the process now. And Baby Girl loves everything, so that's even better.
OH yes, and I also did splurge on some red polka-dotted duvet covers for Christmastime. It's so cheerful!
So, I think this room might actually be coming together. And, surprisingly, the bed is back in the closet again. When we moved the furniture around to paint it ended up in there and Baby Girl fell in love with it. I have to admit, I kind of love it, too. So... onward and upward! We should be done with the room before she hits adulthood. Maybe.
Do your rooms take this long to do? Do you know what you're going to do with them from the start? I seem to have to fumble may way and it takes ages.
