The Art That Caused A Renovation (Thrifted Art & Pretty Dishes)

You know how sometimes a little project will snowball into a big project? This is one of those projects.

I told you about the chandelier the other day, and how I finally put the crystals back on it (longest light fixture makeover EVER).

Once I was done with that project, the wall behind the bed caught my eye. See, two years ago I found these cute bunny prints at the thrift store last year. They were a little ragged so I figured I'd spruce them up a bit, but I didn't have time and I didn't have anywhere to keep them safe indefinitely while I got around to them.

Because, let's be honest, with me that could be a very long time. LONG time.

So I kind of just stuck them on the wall, like so:

Well, once I finished the chandelier makeover, I decided to tackle this wall. I still didn't have time to spruce up the prints (someday, someday), but I figured at least I could make the grouping more attractive. So I grabbed some plates from my collection and put them over and then added this cute handmade sachet that the neighbor lady gave me when I was in Junior High. I can't believe I still have this thing -- I just thought it was the prettiest thing I had ever seen at the time. So this is what I came up with:

I really like it, don't you? Everything is from the thrift store except the sachet, which I've had forever (literally). Here's another shot. And another shot of the chandelier. It's just so sparkly.

Oh yes, but I mentioned a renovation way back up there, didn't I? Well, I was so inspired by this little grouping and the chandelier, and so distressed by the fact that this room doesn't have any trim in it (also two years later), that I thought, well, maybe we should just get it done! We already have all the supplies, just hanging around in the garage and studio waiting to be used, so, why not?

I had to talk to hubs and surprisingly he was all for it. I mean, it has been a long time and the stuff is cluttering up the garage, so he agreed to work with me to get it done! So we're doing it! Here's a little peek at some of the "in process" stages. More to come!
