Baby Girl's Linens, Five Tries Later
T hose of you who've been following along have probably noticed that I drag home every piece of junk I happen upon have a hard time walking away from a good deal. I mean, there's a reason this blog is called Cottage Magpie, am I right?
So, anyway. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was out cruising garage sales, and I came across this great Queen size duvet set. It was in great condition, bright and cheery, and best of all, only $5. So I bought it for Baby Girl's room. Never mind that I already had bought fabric for her room in the pink/lavender kind of family I had originally been going for. I just couldn't pass up this deal, especially since I ended up getting it for $3.15! I brought it home, washed it up, cut it down to twin size and put it in Baby Girl's room.
Yeah. Not loving it.
And I was just about to just pack it back up and give it back to the world, you know?
But the thing is, it's so her! Baby Girl is this bright, sunshiny child, and she loves bright colors. She loves flowers and things, but bright. When I put her on the bed with this cover on it, she was so happy, she patted it and gurgled it and made the "I like it" noise.
So, I decided to try and make it work.
Maybe it's just too much. What if I put the pink pillowcases back on?
Bleah!!! Way worse, way worse!
The curtains--it's clashing with the curtains.
Here, I'll switch the ones out from the closet that came from Rocket Boy's old room.
Better! Definitely better. But still kind of drab. Hmmmm...
Maybe a peach pillowcover (approximated with a folded blanket).
Nope, definitely not.
Hmmmmm..... something bright. Something cute. Something little girl.
Got it! This cute scotty dog made out of vintage chenille! I found it out in The Magic Shed.
I love it!
It's not me, but it's very Baby Girl. Like sherbet and sunshine and bright summer flowers. Now I really really have to paint the walls, though.
Oh, everyone's a critic!
