Christmas Inspiration: Stockings 2012
I don't know what it is, but the first thing I think of when I think of Christmas is the Christmas stockings. Those stockings hung my the chimney with care have come to symbolize all that I love about the holiday season: gathering with friends and family, giving to others with heart and hands, the festive atmosphere.
They're just cheerful, aren't they? Especially when they're scrappy, mismatched, wonky, handmade, long skinny stockings. Little misfits, waiting to be filled with joy and presents for the children (and grown-ups, too!) My stocking from when I was a child (which is long, skinny and handmade) is falling apart now, and the rest of the family has purchased stockings because I haven't been able to make them ones "from Mom." But maybe this year will be my year.
If I do, I hope they will be as cute as some of these:
