Pear Tree Cottage Garden, Before

In contrast to my unhappiness about the front facade of the house, I'm VERY excited about the garden. It's twice as big of a yard as our last house, and it's a giant blank slate. Which, while not everyone's cup of tea, is super exciting for me because I can make it exactly what I want it to be.

Along the side of the house I'm hoping to have a big vegetable garden.

The back garden will be full of perennials and a lawn to play on. And of course the pretty pear tree! This is the only tree on the property and framed exactly in the family room window. We named our house after it!

There's a sizeable shed, which I hope to make into a little garden retreat.

The other side garden is super overgrown, which is kind of fun because it makes a shady tunnel, but isn't great for the house, so we'll clean that up and make it a nice pathway.

Did I mention overgrown?? These rhododendrons are HUGE! You can't see out any of the windows on this part of the house. So those have to be cut down, but they will grow back.

I can't wait to dig into it and get some flowers and color in here!!! But first we'll have to do a LOT of work on the house, so not sure how much I'll be able to do right away. But I can keep dreaming!!
