Pear Tree Cottage Open House 2008
Oh, goodness, hello! I'm so glad you came. I know many of you have been wanting to see what's been happening here at, so I thought it was a great time to have an Open House.
I just finished decorating our porch for fall, and you're the first to see it! Please, come in. Welcome to Pear Tree Cottage.
I just finished painting and decorating this wall in the dining room about a week or so ago. I've got all of the fall goodies in the china hutch to add some seasonal color.
The family room features this wall of storage that came with the house. You can just see the window seat that we added to make the spot more cozy. The plan (soon) is to paint the walls yellow and the woodwork white for a more cottage feel.
Off the family room is our covered patio which overlooks the garden. A year ago this was a big blank patch of grass and barkdust. I decided I wanted an exuberant, colorful garden to attract birds and butterflies in this part of the yard.
Back inside, our guest bathroom is in the middle of a remodel. You'll have to pardon the mess! We did the demo ourselves, and then had this great bathtub installed. Now I'm working on putting the walls and everything back together.
We've only been in this house for a year, and so we are still changing our rooms around quite a bit. This room was originally an office, then a bedroom. Now it's my sewing room, and I've put up my shelves of fabric and treasures.
We tried for a cottage-meets-Western theme in this room. I wanted to create a room that was fun, colorful and comfortable, but still blended well with the cottage style in the rest of the house. Except for the bed, everything here is thrifted. Except the quilt. I made that for my son.
And finally, the master bedroom. We haven't done much to this room yet, and it has a lot, lot, lot of oak woodwork. But I love the bed and the plates above. Everything here was a thrift or secondhand find except the pink shams. I made those.
Thank you so much for coming, it's been a pleasure having you. To find your next stop on the tour, simply pop on back to the Hooked on Houses Fall House Tour party and check out some more houses!
