The Office / Craft / Study Situation
In addition to the green cabinets, the other thing I've been waiting for after the holidays to update you on is the whole office / study / craft room situation.
You may remember that back in September I had this great experience where we voted on Facebook for me to update the pantry, which lead to me creating the mudroom (which is still just a sheet nailed the ceiling, in case you were wondering). That then lead to us deciding to convert the living room into a study for Mr. Magpie (who also works from home).
You may also remember that about this time last year, I became convinced that the real issue with my office / craft room was that it needed to be clean, organized and inspiring, and I was going to work on that over the year. Of course, I didn't. So it sat, looking more or less like it did when I last showed it to you.
So, to recap, my office / craft room looked like this:
The living room looked like this:
Then we did a whole lot of this:
Um, clearly by "we" I mean Mr. Magpie!
So, then what happened is...
...wait for it...
...we totally changed our minds.
Don't worry, it's not that bad.
Basically I was priming all that pretty woodwork and thinking to myself, "Boy, I sure wish I had a bunch of pretty woodwork in my office." Just then, Mr. Magpie walked in, took a look at the room and said, "Gee, Angela, this room is so pretty, you should move in here. I should take the bonus room instead."
Isn't that sweet? I really should be nicer to that man.
So that's what we did.
Except then the holidays happened. Which I really love, but it meant we couldn't finish -- we had to just move in and move on. Which is fine, we'll get back to it *cough*cough* eventually *cough*cough*.
In the meantime, this is what things look like right now. What used to be my office/craft room and is now Mr. Magpie's office looks like this:

With me so far?
I'm really glad we made the switch even though it kind of derailed our project. It works so much better not only for both of our work styles but also for our homeschooling group and sewing dates and so on. So it's working out perfectly.
Now that the holidays are over, we'll get back to working on these rooms, so you'll be seeing more. I'll also be posting some of the things that got skipped over last fall, like I was talking about the other day. Meanwhile, this is where we're at at the moment, so I thought you'd like to see.
What about you? Any projects you put on hold over the holidays??
